Swirl Vase – / Marble Effect – Tom Dixon

Both refined and modern, the Swirl collection features a sculptural, sophisticated construction that explores the notion of balance. Very graphic, this vase consists of an asymmetrical stack of geometric shapes that perform a true balancing act. The solid, destructured silhouette gives a sense of precarious balance that is just an illusion. Tom Dixon pursues his artistic research inspired by post-consumer processes, the waste phenomenon and its management, and the recycling practices of used materials. The Swirl collection is made up of a material that imitates marble, made from industrial waste: recycled marble powder from sawmills. This powder is mixed with coloured pigments and resin. The material is then cut and turned by hand. The marble pattern provides superb mineral decoration. Through the pigmentation process, each piece has a unique pattern.
