For Image Republic, Brazilian artist Paulo Mariotti has designed an exclusive collection based around travel, drawings with a vintage atmosphere, featuring iconic destinations such as Los Angeles, Rio, Sydney, Rome and Monte-Carlo. Paulo Mariotti’s illustrations are an invitation to travel, to take a break and look into a vintage, colourful world. Iconic Parisian café, with waiter in apron at the corner of Rue Saint-Dominique and Rue de la Tour Maubourg, in the heart of the 7th arrondissement, between the Esplanade des Invalides and the Champ de Mars. At the end of the street, the Eiffel Tower stands in unique perspective. The 7th arrondissement is a timeless district, and Mariotti draws it with an almost documentary precision, but has it crossed by an elegant woman, dressed all in yellow, in black gloves, an eternal silhouette à la Audrey Hepburn.Born in Bahia in Brazil, Paulo Mariotti moved with his family to São Paulo in 1978, where he studied Graphic Arts at the FAAP Foundation. Diploma in hand, he moved to Paris in 1991, where he continued his university studies, this time choosing a course in Humanities at the University of La Sorbonne. Text and image have always been present in his professional life. In the 90s, he produced storyboards for short and feature films and worked creating characters for animated films. In 1999, he began illustrating for the press and advertising, in France and abroad. At the same time, he took up the position of permanent correspondent for Vogue Brazil magazine in Paris (as a journalist). In 2013, after four years as an artistic director in communication agencies, he became a correspondent for the Brazilian news channel Globo News. Since then, Paulo Mariotti has continued his career as an illustrator as well as that of a journalist.
